What is my muscle car worth. 1969 dodge 340 swinger 4-speed all original?

It all depends on the condition of the vehicle. Without seeing the car it is hard to even take a guess. A project car (one that needs restoration) could be worth anywhere from $100 to a couple of thousand dollars. A show condition all original car could be worth much more!!!

its considered to be a modern day muscle car,although it hasn’t been around that long its one of dodges strongest running cars,and fastest,for what it is and they way it comes from the factory its a very fast car,probably one of the few cars that will scare me when i ride in one,unless im driving now days anything that runs over 120 miles per hour kind of makes me wish i wasn’t in it,i have drove a few vipers that run really strong,the fastest i ever seen one doing was 134 and i was driving it,but yes its considered to be a modern day muscle car,most people think of muscle cars as being the older cars with the old v-8,s but a viper is good competition for any of these cars,good luck.

With the new Fast and Furious movie coming out in 2009, many are hyped about it. As some fans already know, the movie is going to contain both muscles and riced cars. So which will you pick if you got the chance to drive one, and why? Also, what car will you pick?

Future Plans for my Muscle Car(s)… Dodge Charger?

So within a couple of years I was thinking of buying a 1966-1970 Dodge Charger (preferably a 1968,70). It would be a long working progress since I wouldn’t have enough money to buy one in fairly good condition for $10,000 or so. So odds are in this car there probably won’t be an engine nor a transmission. And if not, I was wondering, do to money, if I should get a 440 instead of a HEMI. Later on when I am way older, I want to buy a Dodge Dart anyway, and hopefully I will have money so that when I am restoring that Dodge Dart, I can buy a HEMI. And with that I was thinking about switching the 440 to the Dart and putting in the HEMI into the Charger. I want both of these cars to have a manual transmission. I was also wondering, if the Charger didn’t have an engine or trans, would it even matter what color it is despite what the VIN says? I would to prefer to have a black, blue, red, or maybe even green Charger but obviously there is no guarantee I will get one that color if I find a good deal. Finally, what are your thoughts about adding a turbo or a supercharger to my Charger? Thank you and I appreciate serious answers.
I have recently found a 1970 Dodge Charger 500 (no engine, old auto trans) on eBay motors starting at $4000. It has so much rust though and it needs work on every panel. I was thinking of sending him an email if he will take it for a lower price. It is suppose to be Jamaican Blue according to the VIN, which looks so nice. What do you think?

if you wait any longer to find one that isn’t restored you may be out of luck on finding one,the fact that those are one of the most desired cars out there right now is making them almost impossible to find and even if you do it wont be cheap,if you do find one go with a good 440 engine in it because they are the best for those cars,good luck.

muscle car question, dodge dart?

alright should i drop a 360 or a 340 in it? 360 obviously because of the power. but 340 because of gas mileage and i could still fit my A/C unit in it. i live in florida so air conditioning is definately a plus but im stuck deciding. any advice or options would be great. thanks.

Personally… I would go with the 340…

The 340 was the Dart "hot-rod". The 360 (to my knowledge) was never offered as a factory engine. I like to see things left as they were originally built, or at least as close to that as possible.

Just a personal opinion. I love the old Darts… Had a buddy with a 69 Swinger with a 340… it was real quick…

Good luck and I’m sure you will enjoy the car regardless of your choice of engines…

Why dont Muscle cars turn but sports cars do?

My favorite cars are 2008 dodge challenger and a 1970 chevelle ss 454 why dont muscle cars turn?

If your talking about the handling characteristics, muscle cars are generally midsized cars with full sized engines installed – a Tempest, for instance, with a Bonneville engine becomes a GTO – a Mustang with a Galaxy engine becomes a Cobra Jet and so on.
This is a recipe for a quick trip down the drag strip but not so much an understeering, rear end sliding quick trip around a slalom course.
Sports cars, on the other hand, are generally engineered for handling.

Im trying to figure out how they make the big muscle cars like dodge charger fast, and the lightweight hondas like the civic type R, only inline 4s. Do smaller engines have capability of having more torque, or more hp? which one, im trying to clear this up.

The bigger the engine the better.
It makes more power.
But, an engine that’s twice as big with the same number of cylinders is not twice as powerful.
It has double the torque but to achieve double the power it would need to rev at the same rpm as the smaller capacity engine.
It can’t do that because it has bigger and heavier parts.
But if you have a 1000cc 4 cylinder engine you can take two of these, put them together and get an 8 cylinder 2000cc engine with both twice the torque and power.
You increase the rpm as much as technology will allow.
Past that, if you want more power you have two choices:
1)Bigger capacity engine (more cc).
2)Same capacity engine with more cylinders (revs higher thus gives more power).
The engines you mention are not comparable.
The Honda is not just a small and high reving engine, it’s also much more advanced technologically.
They gave it the power they wanted to give it taking into account size, weight, fuel emissions, cost etc.
They could have got more power easily from a bigger and heavier engine if they wanted to.
Big engines compromise the handling, US cars are renowned for their torque and bad handling.
The Type-R is one of the best handling cars ever made.
So what do you want to do, drive from A to B or DRIVE?
