How can I fix a serpentine belt problem on my 2000 Plymouth Voyager?

The serpentine belt comes loose on my minivan, usually when it goes through a water puddle. It has happened several times and the mechanics don’t seem to know how to keep it from happening. They have said it has been known to occur with this model, I was hoping someone else has had it and found how to fix it for good.

I can absolutely solve this problem. Chrysler has a manufacturing problem with this particular vehicle involving the serpentine belt being thrown, especially when going through a puddle and or after it has sat and rained outside. You will need to contact a Napa or Carquest parts store and buy the Gates brand belt tensioner, idler pulley and updated belt kit. You will need to know which engine you have, the 3.0 liter being the most common. This kit contains a double sided belt that is the same size as the other, and a grooved idler pulley and belt tensioner so that the belt now rides in the grooves instead of on the slick pulleys. This has solved the problem everytime at my facility with no exceptions, and we went through what you were going through for several weeks when our customer kept losing the belt after going through dips with puddles of water. This will correct your problem.

What is wrong with my Plymouth Voyager?

I have a 2000 Plymouth Voyager. 112.000 miles, last week I took it to the mechanic to change the timing belt (it broke while driving). Today when I start the engine on, it start perfoming some kind of check. On the miles displays it showed "CHEC 1" and the temperature, MPH indicator and Gas indicator starting to move. Then it displaid "CHEC 2" and the PRND12 indicator, showed some squares moving, then It showed CHEC 3 and I don’t remember what happend, then it showed Code 999. And that was it. I took it back to the mechanic, but he looks like he doesn’t know for sure what is going on. He told me to wait and see if that happens again……do you guys have any clues of what might be happening?

Sounds like you some how activated the self diagnostic test.

Try this:

With the ignition switch in the OFF position, depress the TRIP and RESET buttons.
While holding the TRIP and RESET button turn the ignition switch to the ON position.
Continue to hold the TRIP and RESET buttons until the word CODE appears in the odometer windows (about five seconds) then release the buttons. If a problem exists, the system will display Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTC’s) If no problem exists, the code 999 (End Test) will momentarily appear.

Typically code 999 means no errors detected so you should be fine if you indeed saw a 999

Other codes you may see:
Codes: 110 memory fault in cluster
111 calibration fault in cluster
905 not CCD bus message from TCM,
921 odo fault from BCM,
940 no CCD bus message from PCM.
999 end of test (if this is the only code, no errors detected)

Is a dodge caravan hood compatible on a 1994 plymouth grand voyager?

i got in a little fender bender
and the only thing that happened to my voyager was that the hood was dented in a little…
i was wondering if a dodge caravan of the same year (or otherwise) would be compatible with my car.

I have a 1994 Plymouth Grand Voyager LE with 3.3l engine (if that matters)

Hoods on Voyager, Grand Voyager, Caravan, Grand Caravan and Town & Country are interchangeable at least within the model year.

What ever happen to the car that was buried Tulsa’s 1957 Plymouth Belvedere?

I know it was a rust bucket, but what happen current? Did the winners take it? Did it stay in Tulsa? Was it scrapped?

The person who made the guess had died in 1979, so his closest relatives got it, and the savings account now worth $700 (started out originally with $100).

They also buried a pre-production Plymouth Prowler in 1998, to be dug out in 2048.
