MJCQ amphibious jeep and vehicle Swim-In Part 2

November 1st, 2009 | by admin |

(Part 2). Amphibious vehicle swim-in held over the first long weekend in winter. Arrival at the campsite was Saturday afternoon, after a 5 hour drive. Sunday morning was a 110km (70 mile) drive through local state forest in the jeeps, weapons carrier, half-ton Dodge, GPA seep. That afternoon saw the amphibs (three WW2 Ford GPA’s, Coot, Amphicat) in the water. On Monday we packed up and stopped in at a club member’s place to see his WWII Kenworth wrecker, which we all had a ride on. This footage combined from my own (camcorder and still camera in movie mode) and clubmember Bob’s video. Thanks Bob!

WWII vehicle types:

Ford GPW jeep G503
Willys MB jeep G503
Ford GPA amphibious jeep G504
Dodge WC-51 Weapons Carrier G502
Dodge WC-21 1/2 ton 4×4 truck G505
LVT-4 Buffalo amphibious Amtrac
Kenworth heavy wrecker

I would recommend looking for a WWII Historic Military Vehicle club. Also try websites such as G503 and the like, you will be pointed in the right direction from there.
